About Us/Contact

Alpine Blue Home was created in 2015.  It was born out of a desire to bring locally made, hand made custom furniture in a friendly environment.

Our name comes from the blue stain fungus that has attacked the pine trees in our majestic Colorado forests.  This fungus unfortunately kills the tree, but leaves behind a beautiful blue color in the body of the wood.  Another name for this wood is Beetle Kill Pine. We chose to honor these trees by including blue in our name.

Alpine Blue Home uses only wood from trees that were dead prior to harvest.  We buy our beetle kill pine locally, from lumberyards that are harvesting the dead trees and reducing the risk of wildfires, while increasing the health of our forests.

Colorado has very few indigenous hardwood trees. For all of our hardwood, we have developed relationships with people that harvest trees from urban environments. When these trees die from disease and/or storms, the wood is harvested and milled instead of just being chopped up.

We make everything by hand in our local workshop. We use primarily Colorado wood, and try to buy our supplies from Colorado stores and artisans.  We believe in buying, creating, building and shopping locally to support Colorado.

We work by appointment only, so that we can give each client the individual attention that we think they deserve.  Please feel free to contact us to see if we can help you create just the right furniture for your home.

After 8 years in the Evergreen Design Center, Alpine Blue Home is moving. We announce this move with mixed emotions…but mostly gratitude for being part of something so wonderful, and having the support of our customers and the community.

We will post all of the details of our next steps on our website when we have them finalized. In the meantime, we can be reached by email or phone for custom or in stock furniture.

We look forward to a happy, safe, creative and prosperous 2023 for all of us…

Colorado wood.  Colorado made. Colorado style.

Care Instructions

Your wood furniture has been finished with a high quality finish, which should hold up to standard wear and tear for years. The maintenance and care of your solid wood furniture is simple:

 - As with any wood furniture, it is important that liquid not be allowed to stand on the piece.  If you wipe up liquid in a timely fashion, there should be no damage to the finish.  In the unfortunate event that liquid is allowed to stay on the wood for a length of time, you may need to follow the directions below for a minor repair.

 - The furniture should easily clean with just a damp (not wet) cloth.  If you need additional cleaning, you can use a small amount of dish soap in water to clean the top. Do not use harsh chemicals or any industrial products to clean your furniture, as they may damage the finish.

 - Do not place hot items directly on the wood surface.  This can damage the finish.

-The metal legs have been protected with a clear coating.  As long as the legs are not exposed to standing water, or harsh chemicals, they should not need any care.  It is recommended that you wipe them down periodically with a damp (not wet) cloth to remove any spilled food or drink that may be on the legs.

 - If for some reason you need to repair or refinish your furniture, we recommend that you contact a professional furniture repair company.  If a minor repair is needed, please follow these instructions: Sand using 220 grit sand-paper to remove any damage to the piece.  Always sand in the direction of the grain.  It is best to sand lightly, and then continue to sand if more is needed. You can always sand more, but can't un-sand.  If you feel that you need to refinish the entire piece, lightly buff the remainder of the piece to allow for finish adhesion. Apply the finish product, by following the manufacturers directions.  You will be provided with the name of the product that was used to finish your furniture.

Warranty

Alpine Blue Home builds our furniture using Colorado grown wood.  Colorado has a harsh growing environment that can create unique characteristics in wood. We build and finish our furniture by hand.  Given this, there may be small checks, cracks, holes, and variances in color and grain.  These variances can be more visible in live edge furniture.  These are natural characteristics, and should not be viewed as defects.  We use very high quality finishes.  All of our finishes are applied by hand.  Given the organic nature of wood, there may be variances in color, sheen, or feel of the finish on an individual piece of furniture.  Again, these are not defects and should not be viewed as such.

Every piece of furniture we build will have its’ own unique character and color, which is a sign of solid wood furniture. Our products are always rustic and organic and will not have the same look or feel as machine made furniture. Wood is a natural material and can continue to move after the product is made.  There may be some slight movement in your furniture with temperature and humidity changes.  This is natural and is not a defect.

Hand made solid wood furniture will include knots, brush strokes, different textures, distress marks, joint lines, nicks, cracks and other imperfections.  Jointed tabletops will expand and contract.  This does not affect the integrity of the piece, and should not be viewed as a defect.  We realize that these variances aren't for everyone, and encourage people that don’t appreciate this unique nature to not purchase hand made furniture.

Alpine Blue Home builds each piece of furniture with care and integrity.  With proper use and care, your solid wood furniture should last for years.  If you discover a defect in your furniture within 90 days of receiving it, please contact us to discuss warranty repair options.

Alpine Blue Home cannot warranty damage that is caused by improper use, care, cleaning, moving, or any other general misuse.
